How to Choose a Car Inspection Company in Egypt: 7 Questions to Ask

Not every place that offers to “check your car” is giving you an inspection you can rely on. Some are fuel stations with a cable and a laptop. Some are garages that also repair cars. Some are showrooms that inspect the cars they sell. In Egypt, the difference between these matters, because you are relying on the result to decide whether to spend a large amount of money.

This guide gives you a short set of questions to ask any car inspection company, and explains why each one matters.

1. Does the company sell or repair cars?

This is the most important question. A company that sells cars, or earns money from repairs, has a reason to see the car in a particular way. If it sells the car you are inspecting, the conflict is obvious. If it repairs cars, a long list of faults can mean more work for it.

An independent inspector is paid by you and by no one else. We are in that position: Guarantee Car Service does not sell cars and does not do repairs. We record the condition of the car and nothing more.

2. Who does the inspecting?

Ask whether an engineer or a general technician examines the car. Reading a chassis for signs of earlier damage, or telling a factory finish from a repaint, takes experience. Ask how the person was trained and how many cars they check in a typical week.

3. Will you receive a written report?

A verbal “the car is fine” is worth very little once you leave. A written report with photos gives you something to keep, to show the seller, and to use in negotiation. It also holds the company to what it found.

Ask to see a sample report before you book. A good one lists each point checked and its condition, not just an overall score.

4. What equipment do they use?

A proper inspection needs more than eyes and a quick drive. Look for:

  • A lift or ramp to see the underside, chassis and suspension.
  • A paint thickness gauge to find repainted or filled panels.
  • A diagnostic computer that matches the car’s brand and reads stored fault codes.
  • A road test as part of the process, not an optional extra.

If a company cannot offer these, it can only check part of the car.

5. Is the price clear before you move?

Ask for the price before you travel or book an engineer. Be careful with a very low advertised number that rises once the car arrives. A fair provider asks about the make, model, year and location, then gives you a figure. You can read about how the price is worked out in our guide to car inspection cost in Egypt.

6. Can they come to the car?

Sellers do not always agree to move a car before it is sold. A company with a mobile service can come to the car’s location instead. Our mobile inspection covers Cairo, Giza and nearby areas, and the inspection is the same as at our centre.

7. What do they say about the limits?

Be a little cautious of any company that promises it will find everything or guarantees the car for the future. No inspection can do that. A good company explains what it checks, what it cannot know and what you should still verify yourself, such as ownership papers.

Answers that should worry you

  • “We can fix whatever we find.” That is a company that earns more when the car has more problems.
  • “The report is verbal, we will tell you on the phone.” Without a written record you cannot compare, negotiate or come back to it.
  • “The price depends, come and see.” A fair provider can explain what decides the price before you travel.
  • “Every car passes.” No inspector can promise that.

How to use these questions

You do not need to ask all seven in a single call. Pick the three that matter most to you and listen to how the answers are given. A good provider answers plainly and does not pressure you. If you want to see how we answer, read what decides the price and what is covered, then call us and ask the same questions.

Quick comparison

  • Fuel station check: fast and cheap, but usually no lift, no paint gauge and no written report.
  • Garage or workshop: good mechanical knowledge, but it may profit from repairs and rarely gives a structured report.
  • Showroom inspection: convenient, but done by the seller, so it is not independent.
  • Independent inspection company: equipment, an engineer, a written report and no interest in the sale.
