This guide gives you a short set of questions to ask any car inspection company, and explains why each one matters.

This is the most important question. A company that sells cars, or earns money from repairs, has a reason to see the car in a particular way. If it sells the car you are inspecting, the conflict is obvious. If it repairs cars, a long list of faults can mean more work for it.
An independent inspector is paid by you and by no one else. We are in that position: Guarantee Car Service does not sell cars and does not do repairs. We record the condition of the car and nothing more.
Ask whether an engineer or a general technician examines the car. Reading a chassis for signs of earlier damage, or telling a factory finish from a repaint, takes experience. Ask how the person was trained and how many cars they check in a typical week.
A verbal “the car is fine” is worth very little once you leave. A written report with photos gives you something to keep, to show the seller, and to use in negotiation. It also holds the company to what it found.
Ask to see a sample report before you book. A good one lists each point checked and its condition, not just an overall score.
A proper inspection needs more than eyes and a quick drive. Look for:
If a company cannot offer these, it can only check part of the car.
Ask for the price before you travel or book an engineer. Be careful with a very low advertised number that rises once the car arrives. A fair provider asks about the make, model, year and location, then gives you a figure. You can read about how the price is worked out in our guide to car inspection cost in Egypt.
Sellers do not always agree to move a car before it is sold. A company with a mobile service can come to the car’s location instead. Our mobile inspection covers Cairo, Giza and nearby areas, and the inspection is the same as at our centre.
Be a little cautious of any company that promises it will find everything or guarantees the car for the future. No inspection can do that. A good company explains what it checks, what it cannot know and what you should still verify yourself, such as ownership papers.
You do not need to ask all seven in a single call. Pick the three that matter most to you and listen to how the answers are given. A good provider answers plainly and does not pressure you. If you want to see how we answer, read what decides the price and what is covered, then call us and ask the same questions.

Before you book anyone, send these six questions: Do you sell or repair cars? Who inspects the car? Do I get a written report with photos? Do you use a lift, a paint gauge and a diagnostic computer? What is the price before I travel? Can you come to the car?
