Comprehensive Car Inspection in Cairo: What It Includes and Where to Get One

“Comprehensive” is one of the most used words in car inspection, and one of the least checked. A ten minute look under the bonnet can be sold as a comprehensive car inspection. So can a full day of testing. The word alone tells you nothing.

comprehensive car inspection with Guarantee Car Service

This guide explains what a comprehensive car inspection should include, where to get one in Cairo and Giza, and the four questions that separate a real one from a quick look.

What a comprehensive car inspection should include

A comprehensive inspection looks at every system that decides whether the car is safe and worth the price. At Guarantee Car Service that means six separate inspections in one visit, covering more than 210 checkpoints:

  • Computer scan of every control unit the scanner can reach.
  • Chassis and paint, to find accident damage and repainting.
  • Engine and compression.
  • Gearbox.
  • Suspension and brakes.
  • Fluids and filters.

Each one is done with its own equipment, and each result is written into the report with its condition next to it. For the detail on every area, read what a full car inspection includes.

Where to get a comprehensive car inspection in Cairo and Giza

There are three kinds of places you will come across, and they are not the same.

  • Fuel station checks. Quick, convenient, usually limited in scope and equipment. Fine for a first impression, not for a decision. We compare them in car inspection stations in Egypt.
  • Workshops. They know cars well, but they also earn money from repairs, which is a conflict of interest when they are judging a car you are about to buy.
  • Independent inspection centres. They inspect and report, and they do not sell or repair cars. This is where a comprehensive inspection belongs.

Our centre is at 16 Ibn Qutayba, behind the International Garden, in Nasr City, open every day from 12 noon to midnight. If the car cannot be moved, the mobile car inspection brings the engineer and the equipment to the car.

Four questions to ask before you book a comprehensive car inspection

  1. Who inspects? An engineer working for you, or a business that makes money if the car needs repairs?
  2. What do I receive? A written report you can keep and show, or a verbal opinion?
  3. What equipment is used? A diagnostic computer, a paint gauge and a way to check the engine, or only a visual check?
  4. Is the price clear before I travel? A fair provider tells you the number before you move.

These are the same questions we suggest in how to choose a car inspection company. A provider who answers all four plainly is worth your time.

How long a comprehensive inspection takes

Between half an hour and an hour and a half, depending on the car. That is the range for a full inspection with the computer scan. If someone offers a comprehensive inspection in five minutes, ask what was left out.

What a comprehensive car inspection does not do

It reports the condition of the car on the day. It does not predict the future, it does not guarantee that nothing will ever go wrong, and it does not replace checking the papers. A car with perfect paper can still have a bad engine, and a car with a good engine can still have unclear papers. You need both checks. For the buying steps around it, see how to buy a car in Egypt.

How to use the report

Read it in three groups: what is fine, what is worn or repaired and can be negotiated, and what is serious enough to reconsider the purchase. The engineer can explain anything that is unclear. The decision is yours, and it is a better one when it is made with a written report in your hand.

Questions about comprehensive inspections

Is a comprehensive inspection the same as a computer scan?

No. A computer scan reads what the car has recorded. A comprehensive inspection includes the scan and also checks the body, paint, engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes and fluids. See the computer check on its own.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the make, model, year, the type of inspection and where the car is. We tell you the price before anyone moves. The factors are in what decides the price of a car inspection.

Should I inspect before or after negotiating?

Inspect first, then negotiate with the report. Bargaining before you know the condition means you are guessing.
